The closing ceremony of the Children and Adolescents Festival of the International Conference of “Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Supporter of the Great Prophet (p.b.u.h)” was held in Qom Sunday Morning 7 March, 2021.

The festival was held in Kowsar Conference Hall of the Central Propagation Office of Qom province with the performance of Hojat al-Islam Ghazali aka Uncle Ghazali of the Children and with participation of a group of students in a happy environment and with various and attractive programs such as holding a competition, performing an anthem by Rayeh Al-Huda group and playing a clip.

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was the custodian and protector of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h). The fact that we have little information about Hazrat Abu Talib is an injustice against Imam Ali (a.s.),” stated Hojat al-Islam Neyshabouri, the speaker of this festival.

“He was born 35 years before the birth of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and died on the 28th of Rajab in the tenth year of the Be’that. The Muslims called the year in which Hazrat Khadijeh (a.s.) and Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) passed away “Aam al-Hozn” (the year of Grief),” he said, in describing the life of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) had a high status. He held two positions: “Refadah” meaning hospitality of the pilgrims of the House of God (Kaaba) and “Saqayah” meaning watering the pilgrims. Abu Talib (a.s.) was a man of kindness and generosity; Although he was poor, his table was open for the people of Mecca and he received them,” stated the religious researcher, regarding the social status of the Prophet’s uncle.

“Abu Talib (a.s.) took custody of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) when he was eight years old. He loved the Prophet (p.b.u.h) more than all his children. He provided the best food for him and spread the bed of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) next to his own bed,” he added.

“According to a hadith from Imam Sadiq (a.s.), ‘The example of Abu Talib is the example of the Companions of the Cave (Seven Sleepers). They kept their faith secret and revealed Sherk (polytheism), and as a result, God rewarded them twice’,” Neyshabouri continued, saying that Abu Talib (a.s.) was a supporter of the Prophet (p.b.u.h).

“Abu Talib (a.s.) took the Prophet (p.b.u.h) on a business trip to Levant at the age of twelve. In the Levant “Bahira”, a Christian monk saw the signs of prophethood in him and kissed the seal of prophecy that was between the shoulders of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and advised Abu Talib (a.s.) to be very careful of the Prophet so that the Jews would not reach and harm him. After this case, Abu Talib never takes his nephew on trips,” he also reminded.

“In a hadith the Prophet (p.b.u.h) said that I would not have succeeded without Abu Talib (a.s.). Therefore, after the death of Abu Talib (a.s.), Gabriel ordered the Prophet (p.b.u.h) to emigrate from Mecca to Medina because Mecca was no longer safe for Muslims,” stated the religious expert, regarding the role of Abu Talib in helping the Prophet (p.b.u.h) and establishing the religion of Islam.

“People’s personalities and beliefs can be understood from their works and writings. From the poems of Abu Talib (a.s.), his faith is clear. He says in the Lamie ode, ‘Don’t you know that the Prophet (p.b.u.h) is the messenger of God and his name is mentioned in the heavenly books’,” he concluded in the end, on the doubt about the faith of Abu Talib (a.s.).

Following in the meeting, the executive director of the Children and Adolescents Festival of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), Mr. “Vazin Afzali”, presented a short report on the process of holding the festival.

“The purpose of holding the festival is to acquaint children and adolescents with the character of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.). From the beginning of announcing the call for the festival in the category of children and adolescents in the fields of painting, table solving, poetry reading, film and photography and clip making, 804 works were submitted to the festival secretariat,” he said.

Awarding prizes to the winners of the contest from Qom was the final part of the ceremony, and prizes of the winners from other cities will be sent to their addresses.
