The head of the Ashura International Foundation denounced the recent terror attack targeting the University of Kabul in Afghanistan, saying such moves show the hopelessness of terrorists.
Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Akhtari in a message said the terrorists have resorted to such attacks due to their failure and hopelessness in the face of Muslim nations’ resolve.
He underlined that such crimes are in contrast to religious, human and ethical principles and are only aimed at fomenting religious discord and creating tension and conflicts in order to undermine security in the region and pave the way for realization of the objectives of the world arrogance and Zionists.
The senior cleric also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and the people and government of Afghanistan.
At least 22 people were killed and 22 others wounded when gunmen stormed Kabul University in a brutal, hours-long assault that saw students left in pools of blood in their classrooms on Monday.
The attack was claimed by the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group.
