Islamic civilization will be achieved with women’s participation in social arena: Ayatollah Ramazani

The anniversary of the blessed birth of Lady Fatima Zahra (a.s.) was held in the presence of Ayatollah Reza Ramazani and the managers and staff of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

Speaking at the ceremony, while congratulating the birth of Lady Fatima Zahra (a.s.), the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “Given the comprehensiveness of the character of Lady Zahra (a.s.), she is a true role model for mothers, daughters and men of our society.”

Referring to a claim by a Muslim intellectual who said that Imam Ali (a.s.) and Lady Zahra (a.s.) sometimes quarreled and turned to the Prophet (p.b.u.h) to resolve disputes, he added, “Such a thing is never commensurate with the reputation and position of Lady Zahra (a.s.) and Imam Ali (AS). These two dear ones are infallible. As they had many commonalities, it does not make sense to say such a thing about them. Imam Ali (a.s.) did not anger his wife even once, and in the same way, Lady Zahra (a.s.) never angered Imam Ali (a.s.).”

“We have to reconsider the character of Lady Zahra (a.s.). She had both a scientific and educational status. She was both a teacher and an educator and not just raising children at home. Housework is not insignificant, but today the issue of raising children is one of the important disciplines in important scientific centers. It is very important that the responsibility of upbringing is entrusted to the mother. Due to the dignity and status of women and the ability to raise children at home, a mother has a great impact on society,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated.

“By carefully studying the verses and narrations about Lady Zahra (a.s.), we realize that she has lived in different circumstances and situations in her 19 years of her life. From the birth to the She’b Abi Talib (Valley of Abi Talib, during Meccan boycott of the Hashemites), the loss of his mother Lady Khadija (a.s.) and the Aam al-Huzn (Year of Sorrow), the sinister plan of the Kuffar (infidels) to kill her father Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h), the migration to Medina, the wars that according to some, was 60 to 80 wars. She went through very difficult times, and in some wars, such as the battle of Uhud, she cared for the wounded,” stated the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“Lady Zahra (a.s.) played a significant role in enlightening the society. She was active in the cultural, social, and political spheres, and was an informed figure on the issues of the Islamic world at that time. She held question-and-answer sessions, and sometimes women asked questions of Lady Zahra (a.s.) on behalf of their husbands,” he added.

“Restricting a woman to a house is an injustice to her, and according to studies, it is not the view of Islam on women,” Ayatollah Ramazani said, “In some suras, the Quran introduces women like Asiya as role models. There are about 300 Quranic verses related to women’s affairs. There is even a surah called An-Nisa (Women) and a surah called Maryam (a.s.) (Mary, mother of Jesus). Also, parts of Quranic verses such as Mubahala, Tathir and Kowsar are about Lady Zahra (a.s.).”

“There are many verses about the spiritual personality of Lady Zahra (a.s.) in the Quran, each of which expresses the perfection of the perfections of this great figure,” he added.

“The woman has been neglected. There have been extremist views of overstating or neglecting on many issues such as rationality, freedom, prosperity, spirituality, and so on in the history. But historically, there have been no extremist view of overstating about women, and they have not been overstated. In historical books, the role of role model women is very little mentioned. On the contrary, very little has been said about them and they have been ignored,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Women’s social rights have been neglected and must be exercised,” the seminary professor said, “Half of the world’s population is made up of women and girls. Human society has spoken so negatively about women that, unfortunately, even some women have come to believe that they are inferior. Misconceptions have changed the definition of family. In all Quranic verses related to human status, there is no difference between men and women.”

“Today, if women are not present in some social areas, Islamic civilization will not be realized. Women did not neglect their work in any field they entered. We should not ignore or underestimate women. Imam Khomeini revived the presence of women in the social arena and in a large field of the Revolution. The presence of women in the social arena, especially in the educational system, will lead to the formation of Islamic civilization,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated.

At the end of the ceremony, Ayatollah Ramazani praised the female staff of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
