The award that Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir lost for becoming a Shiite!

On the occasion of the demise of the divine scholar, the preacher of the teachings of the Quran and AhlulBayt (a.s.) in East Africa, and Kenyan member of the General Assembly of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir Juma, a commemoration was held online and in person on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 19:00 Tehran time at conference Hall of AhlulBayt (a.s.).

In this ceremony, referring to the demise of Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir, Hojat al-Islam Sayed Morteza Morteza Al-Ameli, a member of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “A few days ago we lost a great scholar from Kenya. I first met him in 1983 at the school of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The school began enrolling students interested in studying religion in East Africa that year. Our meeting was cordial and we had various conversations on various topics. I found Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir a noble scholar, a distinguished writer, and a humble man who spent most of his time serving the religion. He was a strong preacher who was invited to speak in mosques on various occasions. He was revered by scholars in various East African countries and was a prominent figure in the Islamic world.”

“Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir ran in Kenya’s parliamentary elections as a young man and was elected to parliament for a term. After that, he decided to leave politics and spend all his time serving the religion in order to lead the youth to Islam and prevent them from ideological deviations. He knew his community well and worked specifically to protect the younger generation. He called on Muslims to unite and stood up to evangelical groups who tried to turn Muslims away from their religion. He responded to doubts about the Islam and wrote various books and booklets in defense of the Shiite school and Islam,” he continued.

“Among the Sheikh’s works, which had a great impact on the spread of Islamic thought, we can mention the books ‘Tafsir of Surah Al-Ahzab’, ‘Tafsir of Surah Al-Hamd’, ‘Ahl al-Kisa’, ‘Shia and Quran’, ‘Shia and Hadith’, ‘Shia and Companions’, ‘Shia and Taqiyya’, ‘Fadak’, ‘Yazid was not the Amir Al-Momenin’, ‘Celebrating the Birth of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) is not Haram’, and ‘Nikah Mut'ah is a Valid Marriage’,” added the member of the Supreme Council of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Before declaring himself a Shiite, he was invited to an Arab country to receive a grand prize which dedicated to the elites of the Islamic world. Before traveling to that country, he had decided to announce his joining the Shiite school. Some of his friends told him to postpone the announcement a bit to get the award, but he refused and, despite needing the money, made his conversion to Shiism public. The result was that Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir lost the award but did not sell his honor and dignity,” said Hojat al-Islam Sayed Morteza Morteza Al-Ameli, referring to Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir’s distance from the inclination to the material world.

“Young Muslims in East African countries, such as Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, considered Sheikh Abdillahi Nasir as a teacher, educated man, and professor of ethics. East Africa lost one of its leading figures who defended the culture of that region,” he mentioned.
