The Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly stated, “The dimension of resistance in the Ashura uprising is one of the issues that must be addressed in the international arena. Because resistance is based on reason and nature and the narrations confirm it.”

On Saturday morning December 4, 2021, members of the Scientific Council of the Ashura International Foundation met with the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly in the meeting hall of the Assembly in Qom.

In this meeting, while expressing satisfaction with the gathering of educated and strong people in the Scientific Council of the Ashura International Foundation, Ayatollah Reza Ramazani stated, “The activity of the Scientific Council of the International Ashura Foundation with high goals will be very effective in various fields.”

Uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) has played crucial role in life, survival of Islam: Ayatollah Ramazani

Stating that the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) has played a crucial role in the life and survival of Islam, he added, “Imam Hussain (a.s.) is theologically the Imam of the Muslims but we should not limit him to a particular religion. Therefore, in the pilgrimage letters and in greeting to the Infallible Imams (a.s.), we address them as the Imams of man and jinn.”

“What Sheikh Mofid has said in the book “Awael al-Maqalat” in the definition of Imam is more accurate: In addition to have qualification to rule, the Imam is responsible for educating people and protecting the religion,” continued the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

“Islamic scholars, both Shia and Sunni, are devoted to Imam Hussain (a.s.), and because the dimensions of the Ashura uprising are wide-ranging, non-Muslim scholars such as George Jordac have also addressed it,” he said, regarding the importance of global attention to the Ashura uprising.

“Three points about the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) can be taken. The first, is that the historical narration, in which the chronology must be correct and without distortion. The second point deals with the analysis and studies why the Ashura event took place, and the third point is related to the adaptation of the Ashura event based on specific components and characteristics,” said the professor of the highest levels of the seminary of Qom, referring to the historical issues of the Ashura uprising.

The Karbala uprising is a model for the world

About the fact that Karbala uprising is a model for world, he said, “Today, the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.) is undoubtedly a model not only for the Shiites, but also for the world. Obedience to Imam Hussain (a.s.) is obligatory for Shiites. He is a model for Muslims as a scientific and spiritual authority. Due to the invitation of Imam Hussain (a.s.) to God - as the most central principle of the divine religions - he is also a role model for the followers of the Abrahamic religions. He can be a model for the whole of humanity in issues such as freedom, liberty, and moral principles. Therefore, Imam Hussain (a.s.) should be introduced to the world from these dimensions.”

“In Vienna, I was lecturing with international literature about the aims of the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.), that he rose for humanity. After the speech, two residents of the city said that if this is the case, “Imam Hussain (a.s.) is also our Imam”,” continued the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, stating that Imam Hussain (a.s.) is an influential figure for humanity.

“The lesson of the Karbala uprising is freedom against tyranny, and today the world is thirsty for these dimensions and goals of Imam Hussain (a.s.),” he emphasized.

“Ashura uprising can be introduced to the world through animation, books and various tools in moral, ma’arefat, mystical, etc. dimensions. Also, in the mystical dimensions, the issue of submission to God, satisfaction with God’s decision, etc., which is manifested in the event of Ashura, can be presented,” Ayatollah Ramazani added.

“It is very good to introduce Ashura historically, but if it intensifies religious differences, this method will not be useful in the international arena,” he said, referring to the need to address the historical dimension of the Ashura uprising.

“In the international arena, we can introduce Imam Hussain (a.s.) with an internationalist view in such a way that the followers of the Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic religions also accept him as a role model,” continued the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.

The need to pay attention to the resistance dimension of the Ashura uprising in the international arena

“The dimension of resistance in the Ashura uprising is one of the issues that must be addressed in the international arena. Because resistance is based on reason and nature and the narrations confirm it. When there is a coercive and domineering power and it puts everything under its command and expects everyone to be subject to it and there is a bully who is a dictator and arrogant, one should resist against them, and Imam Hussain (a.s.) did the same,” he stated in another part of his speech.

“The Ashura International Foundation can highlight the dimension of resistance, and it is even possible to compile a book entitled “Imam Hussain (a.s.) the Manifestation of Resistance and Divine Glory” on this subject,” continued the professor of the highest levels of the seminary of Qom, considering it necessary to address the resistance dimension of the Ashura uprising.

Justice is the ideal and desire of the divine prophets

“Justice is the word, the ideal and the desire of the divine prophets. If we discuss justice, it will be attractive to the world and it will be effective,” he also stated.

“Imam Hussein (a.s.) and his uprising must be seen worldwide. It can be introduced as a global and trans-religious model and address the dimensions of resistance, justice, morality, jurisprudence and knowledge,” Ayatollah Ramazani emphasized.

On the subjects of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, some (Islamic) figures have expressed some levels, but they have not argued that if the religion itself is in danger, is it obligatory to forbid evil or not. However, Ayatollah Mesbah Yazdi, citing the sermon of Imam Hussain (a.s.) in Mina in 58 AH, had a broader view on the issue of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil,” he stated, regarding the jurisprudential aspect of the uprising of Imam Hussain (a.s.).

“The Ashura International Foundation, using various methods such as films, publishing books, introducing the companions of Imam Hussain (a.s.), etc., can play a crucial role in introducing the Ashura uprising in the international arena and with international literature for Muslims and non-Muslims. Of course, in introducing the character of Imam Hussain (a.s.), cyberspace should not be neglected,” said the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, regarding the duty of the Ashura International Foundation.

It is worth mentioning that Ayatollah Mohammad Hadi Yousefi Gharavi, Hojat al-Islam Sayed Monzar Hakim, Hojat al-Islam Dr. Hadi Ashrafi Darvishi, and Dr. Ahmad Reza Meftah, members of the Scientific Council of the Ashura International Foundation were present in this meeting and expressed their views.
