The resistance of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is instructive for all nations in all dimensions: Ayatollah Ka’bi

The opening ceremony of the International Conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), the Supporter of the Prophet (p.b.u.h), started, Tuesday morning, March 9, 2021, in the Quds Hall of Imam Khomeini Complex in Qom.

“This conference will be held for three days with extraordinary media coverage in Qom. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is one of the oppressed people,” stated Ayatollah “Abbas Ka’bi”, a member of the Assembly of Experts, referring to the conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“The personality of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) has different dimensions, some of which are well explained. He was a Mujahid in the path of Allah and his jihad is related to the time of the presence of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) in Mecca,” he continued.

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was a Mujahid during the struggle and revolution of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) in Mecca and the flag bearer of this revolution. The jihad of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) in Mecca is the jihad of resistance. According to Quranic verses, jihad is not just about participating in a war. In the verses of the Quran, the jihad of Mecca was legislated, which was the “jihad of spreading the invitation (of the Prophet)” in the city,” added the member of the Assembly of Experts.

“The Akbar (Great) Jihad was the resistance against the enemies of Islam who did not intend to allow Islam to be established. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was the leader and forerunner of the Great Jihad. War jihad is the Asghar (minor) jihad and Imam Ali (a.s.) was the leader of the war jihad in the advent of Islam,” stated the head of the resistance committee of the conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), considering the jihad in Mecca as the Akbar (Great) jihad based on the Holy Quran.

“Islam is indebted to the Mujahidat (struggles) of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) and Imam Ali (a.s.). Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), despite being Sayed Bat’ha and the elder of his tribe, struggled under the Velayat (guardianship) and guidance of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). The Velayat has several branches, including knowledge, love, and obedience. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) knew and loved the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and was under the command of the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h),” he continued.

“Islam grew up in a tribal atmosphere. The addressee of Islam was initially the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), close relatives, and the oppressed. When the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) started to spread Islam publicly, this action was accompanied by the support of the elder of the tribe, namely Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), and Islam grew with his social support. If he did not mobilize the tribe to support the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), it would not be clear what would have happened,” added Ayatollah Ka’bi.

“Today we need social and cultural support for the resistance. Tribes and clans can learn from Abu Talib (a.s.) as a model. In the geographical area of the Islamic resistance, many tribes live and these tribes can engage in social resistance,” he continued.

“Political resistance was another dimension of the resistance of Abu Talib (a.s.). He mobilized the Bani Hashim to stand against the Quraysh and support the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h). Abu Talib (a.s.) drew his sword in Mecca to defend the Prophet (p.b.u.h), but no war started,” added the member of the Assembly of Experts.

“Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) put all his property to support the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) in the She’b (valley) of Abi Talib (during the boycott of Quraysh against Bani Hashem, Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and his followers) and to break the economic siege of the Prophet (p.b.u.h)” stated the head of the resistance committee of the conference of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.), referring to the economic resistance as the third dimension of the resistance of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.).

“The resistance of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) was multi-dimensional, all of which can be instructive for the Axis of Resistance in the present time,” he continued.

“According to the narrations, Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) loved the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h) and punished those who insulted the Prophet (p.b.u.h) in Mecca. Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) threatened the Quraysh that if they insulted the Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h), he would go to war with them. The support of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) had nothing to do with tribal issues,” added the member of the Assembly of Experts.

From the very beginning of Islam, Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) accepted the Velayat of the Prophet and had multi-dimensional resistance in various social and political dimensions. The resistance of Hazrat Abu Talib (a.s.) is instructive for all nations and the defense of the Axis of Resistance in all dimensions.
