Development of Lady Fatimah (a.s.) courtyard, masterpiece of Reconstruction Headquarters in Imam Ali’s (a.s.) shrine: Ahmadi Qomi

The press conference “Explaining the activities of the Reconstruction Headquarters for Atabat Aliat” was held on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, in the presence of the media in the office of the institution in Qom.

The head of the office of the Reconstruction Headquarters for Atabat Aliat (Holy Shrines and places in Iraq) in Qom Province, stated, “The Ba’athist regime did nothing for the holy shrines in Iraq, except for the creation and development of the Bein al-Haramain (the area between Shrines of Imam Hussain (a.s) and Hazrat Abbas (a.s.)).”

“The area of Imam Ali’s (a.s.) Shrine was 12,500 m2, and after the development plan of the courtyard of Lady Fatimah (a.s.), 218,000 m2 were added to the area of the Shrine,” said Hojat al-Islam Hossein Ahmadi Qomi on the activities of the Reconstruction Headquarters in the Imam Ali (a.s.) Shrine referring to the fact that the Headquarters’ office in Qom opened in 2004.

“The project to develop the courtyard of Lady Fatimah (a.s.), was masterpiece of Reconstruction Headquarters of Atabat Aliat in Imam Ali’s (a.s.) Holy Shrine. In these 16 years, since the start of the project in 2005, 95% of the project has been completed with special beauties, and only 5% of the work remains. The project was funded by the Iranian people, including Shiites and Sunnis,” he continued.

“In the shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.), the Headquarters has done many things, including the restoration of marble, the supply of drinking water to the shrine, and the establishment of the Dar al-Ziyafa (literally Guest house, a place for guests’ reception). Also, the belt around the dome and the inscriptions around it were repaired,” said Ahmadi Qomi, regarding other activities of the Headquarters in the shrine of Imam Ali (a.s.).

“The Headquarters has reconstructed the mosque of Kufa, the courtyard and the dome and the shrine of Hazrat Muslem (a.s.). The doors were also replaced,” said the head of the Qom office of the Reconstruction Headquarters for the Atabat Aliat, regarding the activities of the Headquarters in Kufa.

“Due to some problems, the activities of the headquarters in Karbala started later. The pillars of the shrine of were strengthened, and inscriptions were installed. The great work of the Headquarters is the development of the Imam Hussain’s (a.s.) Shrine. In Tall Al-Zaynabiyya, the courtyard of Lady Zainab (a.s.) has been under construction for 5 years, and we hope to complete the project in 5 years,” he said about the activities of the Headquarters in Karbala.

“The Headquarters has paved 12,500 m2 in the Shrine of Kazimayn. The domes of the Shrines of Imam Javad (a.s.) and Imam Musa ibn Ja’far (a.s.) were gilded, each of which needed 110 kg of gold, and all the required gold was provided by the Iranian people. The garlands were also repaired. One of these garlands was tilted 80 cm, which we strengthened so that it would not collapse over time,” Ahmadi Qomi said, referring to the activities of the Headquarters in Kazimayn.

“The ancient Safavid mosque in the Shrine of Kazimayn, was rebuilt and joined the shrine. Also, the porches and courtyards of the shrine of Imamzadeh Sayed Muhammad (a.s.), which was damaged in the terrorist explosion, were repaired, and rebuilt,” he added.

“After the terrorist explosions and the first and second destruction, all the damage to the dome and the garlands was rebuilt. The special task of the Headquarters was to develop the Crypt of Absence (The holy basement where Imam Mahdi disappeared.). 2500 m2 of the courtyard of the crypt was developed and the nave and Dar al-Ziafeh (literally Guest house, a place for guests’ reception) were added to the complex,” stated the head of the Qom office of the Reconstruction Headquarters for the Atabat Aliat about the activities of the Headquarters in Samarra.

“95% of the people of Samarra in the past and present are devoted to the two Imams buried in this city. From the past, they have recited the marriage sermons of their youth in the shrine and bury their dead there. The custodian of the Askari Shrine said, “During the Arbaeen pilgrimage, we went to the Samarra market to buy the items needed for the Shrine. When the sellers realized that the purchase was for the Shrine, some gave a big discount, and some added something to the goods we bought and say that that was their share in the good deed”,” he said about the cooperation of the people of Samarra.

“The people of Qom have donated more than ten kilos of gold to the Headquarters so far. In 2020, they have contributed 440 grams of gold and more than two billion tomans, and in the first six months of 2021, two billion and five hundred tomans to the Headquarters. Of course, the percentage of aid from the poor and the lower strata of society is very high,” said Ahmadi Qomi about the participation and assistance of the people of Qom for the reconstruction of the holy shrines.

“In Arbaeen this year, 41 Mawkebs from Qom went to the Arbaeen ceremony and served the pilgrims for three to 15 days. Also, since 2019 the Mawkebs of Qom have helped more than 25 billion tomans to the needy,” he said about the activities of Reconstruction Headquarters Office of Qom Province, in Arbaeen this year.
