In a message, the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly expressed condolences on the demise of Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi, one of the prominent Shia figures of Pakistan.

Part of this message reads, “Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi played his worthy role to serve Islam and the Islamic Ummah. With his media presence, his political and cultural analysis, and his political activism as the vice president of the National Solidarity Council of Pakistan, he was a rare figure in the field of politics.”

The message of condolences of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly on the demise of Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi is as follows:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَىٰ نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Among the faithful are men who fulfill what they have pledged to Allah: there are some among them who have fulfilled their pledge, and some of them who still wait, and they have not changed in the least. (Holy Quran, Surah: Al-Ahzab, Verse: 23)

The sorrowful demise of the late Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi, a scholar, researcher, writer, poet, and servicing activist in social affairs and one of the influential and famous figures of Pakistan, is an irreparable loss for the followers of AhlulBayt (a.s.), the seminaries and the people of Pakistan.

Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi played his worthy role to serve Islam and the Islamic Ummah by establishing and managing Al-Basira Research Institute, Brotherhood Research Academy and publishing books and monthly Payam Magazine, quarterly Al-Mizan Magazine, with special attention to the thoughts of the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.), Martyr Morteza Motahari (r.a.), and Allameh Iqbal Lahori, advancement of education, research and publishing in the Tafsir of the Holy Quran, Hadith Sciences, modern theology, Fiqh, Osul, philosophy, and other Islamic sciences, and finally extensive social services. Also, with his media presence, his political and cultural analysis, and his political activism as the vice president of the National Solidarity Council of Pakistan, he was a rare figure in the field of politics.

The AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly offers its condolences on the demise of this servicing scholar, to all Muslim scholars and intellectuals, the Muslim people of Pakistan, and his respected family, and prays to the Almighty God for the highest degrees, felicity in the hereafter, and forgiveness and divine pleasure for the blessed deceased.

It is worth mentioning that Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Islamabad, Pakistan. He was the head of the Al-Basira Institute and one of the prominent figures among the ulama and intellectuals of Pakistan. He had impressive activity in the fields of scientific research and study, poetry, and literature, as well as serving in social affairs, researching religious sciences, and helping those interested in religious sciences to create scientific works. He also used to participate in television programs as an expert on the political affairs of regional developments.

He was one of the influential and prominent figures among the Shiites of Pakistan, who had significant scientific and research studies in the field of Islamic unity and approximate of the Islamic schools of thought, religious sciences, poetry, and literature, and left a legacy of many valuable works. The late Allameh Sayed Thaqib Akbar Naqvi, with a tireless effort, sought to properly acquaint the people of Pakistan with the thoughts and ideas of the great and influential figures of the modern era, including Allameh Iqbal Lahori, the late Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and Martyr Mortaza Motahari (r.a.). /345/
