Ayatollah Khosroshahi, aware of his time, knew the audience comprehensively: Ayatollah Ramazani

To commemorate the second anniversary of the demise of Ayatollah Sayed Hadi Khosroshahi, the webinar “Man of Approximation Square” was held on Sunday evening, February 20, 2022, by the Office for Iran Affairs of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, in cooperation with the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and similar institutions.

In this webinar, the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly said, “Awareness of his time and knowing the audience comprehensively were among the prominent features of the late Ayatollah Khosroshahi.”

“The late Khosrowshahi was a scholar who was aware of his time and knew his audience well because he tried to get acquainted with the languages and cultures of different regions. Because he was a man of wisdom and philosophy, he was able to communicate with different audiences through the language of reason and nature, and this is a very important point,” Ayatollah Reza Ramazani stated.

“Ayatollah Khosroshahi was an international scholar. Today, it is difficult to find a cleric who is an international scholar.

“Therefore, the seminary must make serious efforts in this regard. Because to introduce the discourse of the Islamic Revolution to the world using the language of nature and reason, and to introduce justice and resistance in the social arena to human society in the true sense of the word, we must be familiar with the language and literature of the target areas for our audience understand our words and get convinced,” he said.

“He knew the audience comprehensively, as he had traveled extensively to identify his audience. Also, he read a lot. He tried to instill the language of religion, that is, the language of reason and nature, correctly,” he said, referring to other features of Ayatollah Khosroshahi.

“The study of historical events was another prominent feature of the late Khosroshahi. Khosroshahi studied figures such as Hassan al-Banna and Sayed Jamal al-Din al-Assadabadi, considering the influence they had on society, and the fact that following their path could have an impact on society,” Ayatollah Ramazani said.

“Ayatollah Khosroshahi was a supporter of proximity between Islamic denominations, and in Cairo he followed this view, as well as the unity of the Islamic Ummah. He took the dialogue seriously and established good relations with Christians as the Islamic Republic’s ambassador to Vatican. Because he knew the art of approximation and conversation. Therefore, he was able to establish good interactions with the followers of religions,” he said, referring to the approximate views of the late Khosroshahi.

“Khosroshahi respected his audience, listened to their opinions and spoke to the audience with the logic of reason and nature,” Ramazani added.

“Figures such as Imam Khomeini (r.a.) and Imam Musa Sadr influenced the personality of Ayatollah Khosroshahi in the social arena. He was a friend of the late Ayatollah Taskhiri, who was also a supporter of approximation. These two were unique figures in the field of approximation of Islamic denominations and were provided valuable services to the Islamic world,” continued the member of the Assembly of Leadership Experts.

“Today also, the seminaries must take this important issue seriously as well, and figures must be trained for playing the role in the international arena and be able to introduce the Islam’s call for righteousness to the world with indisputable argument,” he emphasized.

“The late Khosroshahi was from the family of knowledge and ijtihad, and this can be seen in his personality. Therefore, just after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, due to his approaches, Imam Khomeini (r.a.) appointed him as the head of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. Then, due to his interactive view and good command in the international affairs, he was sent to Cairo as an ambassador and senior diplomat to pursue the issue of proximity seriously. In the Vatican, he also pursued the issue of dialogue with religions, especially Catholic Christianity. May God have mercy on him and reunite him with the saints of God and his ancestors,” Ayatollah Ramazani stated.
