The statement of Hojat al-Islam Sayed Abulhassan Navab, President of the University of Religions and Denominations is as follows:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم

یُرِیدُونَ لِیُطْفِئُوا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَاللَّهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهِ وَلَوْ کَرِهَ الْکَافِرُونَ

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light though the faithless should be averse. (Holy Quran, Surah: As-Saff, Verse: 8)

The insult of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo to the religious and national sanctities of Islamic Iran once again hurt the religious and patriotic feelings of Iranians.

The leftist Paris-based magazine, which has a shameful history of insulting Islamic sanctities, once again questioned the honesty of Westerners in pluralism and respect for different religions, denominations, and ethnicities, and also challenged the foundations and examples of the West in exercising freedom of expression.

Certainly, such defiance, more than harming the character and greatness of the Iranian nation, will draw the attention of the world, especially the Muslims, to the innocence, and at the same time, the power of the great Iran.

Targeting the leaders of Iran’s Islamic system and the Prophet of Islam at the same time, conveys this message to the world that the enmity with Iran’s Islamic system is rooted in the same origin that allows insulting the sanctities of Islam.

On behalf of the professors, employees and thousands of Iranian and non-Iranian students of the University of Religions and Denominations, I condemn this heinous act, and I pray to God for the honor and health of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as the pride of the great nation of Iran. Also, I assure that this evil act, like the previous ones, will return to the enemies and ill-wishers themselves.

Sayed Abulhassan Navab

President of the University of Religions and Denominations
